The challenge

She needed a website that unified the entire offer in one place, with an architecture the visitor would understand in 5 seconds and that she could maintain without depending on a developer.

What we did

We chose Strata CMS (our own CMS in alpha) for Libera tus Creencias because the coach needed to unify courses, 1-on-1 sessions, one-off workshops and digital products on a single website she could maintain herself without depending on a developer. WordPress + WooCommerce would have handled the shop side, but managing cohort-based courses, a session calendar and an SEO blog together required a more flexible data model than WordPress posts and classic CPTs can offer.

Strata let us model three content types with clean relationships: Course (duration, price, cohort dates, syllabus as reusable blocks), Session (type, duration, real-time slot availability) and Digital Product (instant delivery after payment). The coach adds content from a visual block editor without touching HTML, like Notion but with structured types. This is the kind of visual editor without WordPress maintenance that lets a non-technical owner run her own site after a short 1-on-1 handover session.

Native integrations with Stripe for recurring payments on cohort courses, MercadoPago as a second method (her audience is in Argentina) and MailPoet for transactional and nurturing email. Sessions are booked from an interactive calendar on each service page, with the slot confirmed by email. The editorial blog runs on the same Strata, so all SEO content lives in the same database and benefits from the same internal linking and Article schema.

Reusable pattern: Strata CMS for digital product creators drastically cuts maintenance cost compared to a WordPress + WooCommerce + LearnDash + external calendar stack. Strata vs WordPress for content creators comes down to structured data: when the offer is more complex than posts and pages, a flexible CMS saves hours every week. The coach went from scattered presence across 5 platforms to managing everything from a single CMS — a website a solo coach can maintain on her own without a developer on retainer. Time spent on admin dropped 70% in the first month.

Frequently asked technical questions

What CMS should I use to sell online courses without WordPress?
To sell online courses without WordPress there are three paths: a custom CMS like Strata (models courses with structured types instead of posts), closed platforms like Teachable or Hotmart (faster to set up but less customisable), or frameworks like Next.js with Sanity or Strapi as backend. For creators who want to maintain the website themselves without a developer, Strata offers the best balance between flexibility and autonomy.
Strata or WordPress for a coach selling digital products?
WordPress with LearnDash + WooCommerce + Memberpress may seem more familiar, but it becomes a Frankenstein hard to maintain when combining cohort-based courses, scheduled sessions and digital products. Strata models these three content types with clean relations, has a visual editor so the coach can publish without touching code, and reduces long-term maintenance cost. For complex digital products, Strata wins.
How do you manage courses, sessions and digital products on one website?
The key is modelling each content type with its own fields: Course (duration, price, cohort, block-based syllabus), Session (type, duration, schedule with available slots), Digital Product (post-payment delivery). This can be done in WordPress with Custom Post Types + ACF Pro, but it requires a developer. Strata CMS comes with this out of the box, with a visual editor so the creator manages everything without external help.
Can a coach maintain their website without depending on a developer?
Yes, if the CMS has a visual editor and the content types are well modelled. Strata CMS lets a coach publish courses, update sessions, sell digital products and manage their schedule from the browser, without touching HTML or shortcodes. WordPress is also maintainable but requires more training: installing plugins, configuring page builders, understanding CPTs. The difference is how much time the creator spends each month maintaining the site.
How much does a custom CMS cost vs WordPress for creators?
A custom CMS project starts from 3,000€ for an individual creator (training and deployment), compared with 800–3,000€ for a WordPress project depending on scope. This is bespoke project pricing, not the monthly Strata licence. CMS licence, hosting and maintenance are confirmed separately; editing content yourself does not eliminate technical maintenance.
